Susannah is also regularly instructed in police discipline, courts martial, and prison law matters.
Recent Work
Susannah's police discipline work includes the successful abuse of process application arising from delay in serving the Regulation Notice in a case of racial assault and abuse. The proceedings followed a Channel Four “Dispatches” programme and recommendations by the IPCC.Advised concerning a potential civil action of misfeasance in public office and negligence involving the conduct of a Joint Branch Board Chairman of the Police Federation. The case involved complex, esoteric issues of vicarious liability of the Chief Constable, the definition of a police federation representative, potential conflicts of interest and breaches of the funding rules.
Representing a Metropolitan Police Sergeant in relation to a claim of false imprisonment against the Chief Constable of Kent, arising from an incident on Christmas Eve when the officer was off-duty and seeking to assist a Kent officer during an arrest.
