Summary
Jocelyn Ledward has substantial experience in all areas of criminal law. She has prosecuted and defended as a junior barrister (both led and alone) in complex cases.
Her experience includes multi-handed and multiple homicides and other serious violence (against adults and children, including cruelty), sexual offences (including gang rapes), large-scale drugs supply and importation, money-laundering, duty evasion, conspiracy to defraud, corruption and other offences of dishonesty (including high-value theft and robbery conspiracies).
She has extensive experience in relation to disclosure and Public Interest Immunity; in dealing with evidence from foreign jurisdictions; and in confiscation.
Her professional disciplinary experience includes appearing before the General Medical Council, General Dental Council, General Social Care Council and General Chiropractic Council.
She provides advice to and represents corporate and professional / director clients in Health and Safety at Work Act, Trade Descriptions Act and Insolvency Acts cases.

Recent Work
R v Gallagher and others (January 2012): Leading Prosecution Counsel in the successful prosecution of seven men, including a corrupt prison officer, for conspiracy to supply drugs and smuggle mobile telephones into HMP Pentonville.
R v A (April 2011): Junior Prosecution Counsel in the trial of a father for the manslaughter of his three-month-old son, who had died some six years earlier from a head injury caused by shaking. The case was complicated by extensive and controversial medical evidence, detailed proceedings before the Family Court, and the passage of time since the death of the baby.
R v Kalash Vijay (December 2010): Successful prosecution of a London bus driver who raped a drunk and incapacitated female passenger, after taking her back to his home address when she collapsed on his night bus. He was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.
R v Edwards and Demirtas (September 2010): junior for the prosecution in the trial of two men convicted of murder, by stabbing and running-over a rival drug dealer in Stoke Newington, in revenge for the kidnap of one of their associates.
GMC v Dr. Luthra (August 2010): instructed on behalf of the GMC in disciplinary proceedings against GP whose fitness to practice was found to be impaired by reason of deficient professional performance, including missing a late-stage pregnancy in an 11-year-old girl in 2006. The doctor was erased from the Medical Register.
GMC v Dr. Shankar (August 2010): instructed on behalf of the GMC in disciplinary proceedings against GP whose fitness to practice was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct, after he failed to assess and examine two female patients properly in relation to gynaecological complaints, one of whom later died of cervical cancer. The doctor was placed on conditional registration.
R v A (2010); Trial for manslaughter following the death of a man after a “one punch” assault which took place two years earlier outside a nightclub.
R v Komar (2010); Trial following murder of a man found dead at his home in North London. The defendant stood trial alone after her boyfriend fled the jurisdiction to his native Turkmenistan (Prosecution Junior).
R v Harris and Ghalaini (2010);Prosecution of two professional thieves who were targeting high net worth individuals in the West End and at international jewellery fairs.
R v Campbell (2010);Prosecution of a businessman for the murder of his wife, Olga Pleguezuelos-Puixeu, a successful gaming industry executive (Prosecution Junior).
R v Carty and Carty (2009): trial of two brothers for an allegation of murder of a young man who was stabbed to death in Hayes, Middlesex, using a knife he had acquired himself only minutes before the fatal attack.
